Departure Lounge OOTD

This outfit is one of my go-to outfits during the Summer/Fall. A very simple sleeveless top from Topshop made of a very sheer fabric and blocked neckline that makes it effortlessly put together. My textured shorts are one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe from Maje with metallic rose gold tones. I topped it off with a pastel mid-length sleeved cardigan from Saint Lauren that  complements the entire outfit, as well as keeps me warm from the strong air-conditioning in Hong Kong.
My shoes are my all-time favorite Chelsea boots from Topshop - comfort and style (and height!) all-in-one (or two, since we're talking about shoes!)
The Diorissimo handbag is a great sophisticated piece, yet the hint of pink on the interior subtly peeps out and adds a bit of playfulness.
I don't think I will ever get bored of this outfit. Everytime I wear it I still feel fresh, girly yet comfortable.

FAVORITE MAC LIPSTICKS FOR FALL

When I have a particular shade of lipstick in mind that I want to buy, I always find myself searching for it in MAC if I can't find it anywhere else - because the odds are that MAC will likely have it.

Although I'm not a huge fan of the formula of some of the MAC lipsticks (i.e they enhance my lip lines, leave my lips severely dry after just 1-2 hours of wear), there are some shades that I tend to reach to for fall.

MAC Jazzed

Jazzed is a great simple, everyday color that manages to create a look that is effortless yet polished. It is perfect for those 'no-makeup-makeup' days and I remember, for a year, I used to wear nothing but this. It was my first lipstick from MAC and I would highly recommend this for those starting out on makeup. If you need just one lip shade - this would be it.

Very similar to Jazzed, Ravishing is a slightly darker peachy tone. As you can see from the lip swatch, my lip lines are dramatically enhanced. However with a good scrubbing of the lips and a heavy slab of lip balm, it usually looks better. I love Ravishing for its 'my lips but better' color - it's a nice, natural peachy-pink.

One of my all-time favorites. I always get asked what lip shade I'm wearing when I wear this bold-orange color. Highly pigmented in the Amplified formula, Morange illuminates the complexion, making the lips stand out.

MAC Up The Amp

If Morange was No. 1 on my MAC Favorites, Up The Amp would be No. 2. A "not too bold but not too subtle either" purple, this is the perfect shade for fall if I don't want to go too vampy. It complements most looks but I love it with a light, shimmery brown eyeshadow shades.

From its tube, you may have thought this was one of those dark vampy shades. In fact, upon application it blends out into a nice sheer color that isn't too vampy or dark. It only darkens the lips slightly into a purple-fuschia shade. I personally think Hot Tahiti is gorgeous - I don't wear it enough.

A cult and staple for the classic red lip. Russian Red has a matte finish which makes it even more unique and special. It is bold and highly pigmented, and is just a beautiful red shade that everyone must own. Definitely one to wear for the upcoming Christmas parties!

MAC Dark Deed

Probably the darkest lip color I own from MAC. This was from their collection last year and I love how it is so dark and burgundy-ish. Sometimes I'm told it doesn't suit me, but I honestly love it for the fall and winter. A lip liner underneath would be a good call though!

So here are my MAC Favorites. Are there any of your favorites that you think I should try? Let me know in the comments!

SIMPLE, EVERYDAY FALL MAKEUP

We're nearing the end of fall, and I realized I never got to share one of the most simple, fall inspired makeup looks I've been sporting a lot recently!

This makeup look is basically composed of a light, natural base (Nars Tinted Moisturizer), soft brows, soft naturally flushed cheeks, a sheer lip color and minimal eyeshadow with a winged eyeliner.
I love that minimalism of the eyeshadow, which makes the eyeliner stand out and the eyes really pop and stand out.

I hope you guys enjoyed watching this makeup routine as I enjoyed making it!

FAIRY PRINCESS 1 DAY CIRCLE LENSES REVIEW

Before

After

I never used to be a fan of circle lenses. I was born with extremely sensitive eyes and wearing contact lenses were a nightmare, especially when I would take almost half an hour just trying to insert them into my eyes (yikes).

A few years ago my sister introduced me to the Fairy Princess 1 Day Circle Lenses - and I thought, for video purposes, I'd give them a shot. I feel that circle lenses really have an impact on the outcome of the video and the makeup look that I was doing.
It makes the eyes look bolder, stronger and more awake by creating an illusion of enlarged pupils as well as glistening, almost sparkly eyes. However I would never wear them on a daily basis, nor would I wear them out on any occasion - it's just not something I'm used to and somehow I don't think it's necessary.

I was surprised by how easy it was to put on and take off the Fairy 1 Days. I'd gotten used to it quickly and I love how they sit comfortably on my eyes. I've never worn them for a prolonged period of time as I mainly use them for filming purposes, but as a circle lens newbie, I was very pleased with this brand and didn't need to try any other brand since.

However, Pinkicon recently sent me the Brigitte circle lenses, and they were much harder to take off. They didn't look as natural and appeared harsh. I think I may have even scratched my eyeball when struggling to remove them as they pretty much glued to my eyes. I started to panic, and I am afraid to wear them again! You can see me wearing the Brigitte circle lenses in this video

I've stocked up on the Fairy 1 Days in pink and brown - brown being the most natural. It lightens the eye color yet does not look as forced and pretentious as most circle lenses I've seen on other people.

I'm sorry I wasn't able to provide a review on how long-wearing the circle lenses are, but I can say for sure that I can wear these for up to 2 hours without my eyes feeling dry.

Do you wear circle lenses? If so, which brand would you recommend?
Disclaimer: I have purchased these circle lenses with my own money in the past, and have also been sent them from Pinkicon.com. All opinions as usual, are my own and completely honest.

OCTOBER FAVORITES 2014

There is something about October - the gradual transition from Summer to Fall. The time to pull out sweaters and tights, and stuffing the now empty under-the-bed storage bags with summer tanks and bright tops. The new musky, fresh scent in the air and when orange leaves fall to make beautiful patterns on the ground. I loved my October, did you?

First thing that I have been loving (and completely used up) over the past month is the Soap & Glory Wash Your Hands Of It hand wash. Initially, I intended for it to be bathroom decor as Soap & Glory packaging has always had a spot in my heart. However, once I started using it, there was no turning back. I still cannot believe I used up an entire bottle of hand wash on my own within a month. It cleanses your hands without making it feel dry or smell of alcohol - instead it leaves a fruity fragrance that lingers and hands still feel normal if not nourished after use.

Moving on to a makeup brush I have only recently received in the post yet have fallen head over heels in love with it is the Zoeva Silk Finish brush. I love using this to blend in my foundation. Its soft bristles makes me feel relaxed when blending the product on my face - almost like giving myself a gentle face massage. It is easy to clean, and who can resist the beautiful rose gold design? I'm afraid to say this may replace my all-time favorite Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, just because the bristles are longer and I find that it takes less time to blend foundation seamlessly onto my face.

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick #5

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick #5 Swatches

(Left: several layers; right: one layer)

A lippie I have been wearing on many occasions the past month is the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in #5 Fuschia in Excess. It always sat in my lipstick drawer, lonely and screaming for attention yet for some reason I rarely find myself reaching for it. However i find it a perfect transitional color from Summer to Fall - as it has a nice glossiness to it. The shade is buildable from a sheer fuschia to a solid pop of color. Formula-wise, it does dry my lips after several hours, however the first few hours it produces a nice shine to my lips and I have been complimented on my lip color whenever I wore this.

You can see me wearing it in this video.

My holy grail contour product. I subconsciously reach for this although during the Summer months, I was more drawn to my new Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate. Now that we are approaching Fall, I prefer the Kevyn Aucoin as it is more subtle, yet low maintenance. It is not the most pigmented of contour products, however that may be the beauty of it. A couple of sweeps underneath the cheekbones and you have a naturally beautiful sculpted complexion.

I have featured this in a NARS post before, where I mentioned it was most likely to be 'the next Orgasm'. Indeed, I find myself reaching for it, especially for this transition period of seasons. It still carries on with shimmers of Summer and a slight hint of coral, yet muted in a way that complements Fall. This blush pairs very well with most makeup looks which may be the reason I have it left on my vanity table instead of hidden in the drawers that carries the rest of my makeup stash.

Last but not least is the eyeshadow palette I have been constantly wearing - the Makeup Revolution What You Waiting For palette. Let's forget about the price for a moment as I'm sure it does not require any reminding - but the variety shades and quality of the shadows just has me reaching for this daily. I can easily create a light pink eyeshadow look, or fall-inspired plum eyes - the combinations are endless. Creamy and pigmented (although slightly crumbly, I must say), the pinks, golds and purple tones of this eyeshadow palette just draws me in - even just to stare at.

SHU UEMURA X KARL LAGERFELD LIMITED EDITION SHUPETTE CHRISTMAS COLLECTION 2014

Shu Uemura x Karl Lagerfeld Shupette Beauty Collection

The Christmas Collection by Shu Uemura is certainly unmissable. Inspired by none other than Karl Lagerfeld's darling feline friend Choupette, this Limited Edition Christmas Collection is probably a must-have for Lagerfeld-fans and cat lovers alike. With it's bright pink packaging, adorable drawings of Choupette the cat and metallic paw prints on the packaging, the packaging had me squeal the moment I set my eyes on it.

Shu Uemura Shupette Ultime 8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil

Packaging-wise, my favorite had to be the Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil with its silver bottle and the signature Shupette drawing on the front. I personally, would like to keep this as decor rather than use it. However, it is told that the Ultime8 Sublime Cleansing Oil is by far the highest quality one infused with eight different botanical oils to cleanse the skin of impurities yet leaves the skin feeling cashmere soft. I personally don't use Cleansing Oils, but I'm willing to give this one a try.

The Shupette Has-It-All Eye and Lip palette is was the one that made me think of all the different looks I could create with it. It boasts eight eyeshadow shades and six lip shades. However I am most surprised by how attracted I was to the lip formula rather than the eyeshadow ones.

Shu Uemura Shupette Has-It-All Eyes and Lip Palette Swatches

All eyeshadows contain a slight shimmer, with the left block being more cool-toned with shimmering whites, pastel blues, a metallic light taupe and a black for smoking out.

The left block of lip gloss contain a fuschia reddish-pink, a dark red and a light baby pink shade.

The right block of eyeshadow contains a light gold, cool-toned pink, warm gold and a dark aubergine/brown shade.

The right block of lip gloss include a coral pink, pure red and a pastel beige-pink shade.

As you can probably see from the swatches, the eyeshadows are fairly pigmented. I would prefer it if they slipped in a matte shade here and there, instead of them all being so shimmery. It's good to have both to balance out the looks - however this is a Christmas Collection so I would understand how shimmer plays into it.
The glosses however, have to be my favorite thing from the palette. Although not a fan of the light pink shades that would probably be best just to gloss up my natural lips (as these colors don't show on my naturally-dark lips), the formulation is incredible. Rich sold pigments in one swipe, and extremely creamy, glossy yet not thick. Whilst swatching these I was trying to come up with a word that describes them - along the lines of 'a good balance between pigmented and sheer'. If you do manage to come up with a word that fits do let me know!

If you're a fan of smaller palettes, the Shupette Collection also includes a few eyeshadow trios of eyeshadows and lip shades.

Shu Uemura Shupette Silk Cushion Cheek in Orange

Next is the Silk Cushion Cheek in Orange. It is almost sponge-like when I tried to take the color out for a swatch. Unlike most cream blushes I have tried where the texture is very solid and hard to blend, this one is almost to an extent - slippery, which makes it easy to blend. I must say the shade is not one I would personally go out and purchase. I like my orange blushes but this one is more of an orangey-brown which can make my face look muddy as I am quite pale. Formula-wise, it is on point as far as cream blushes go.

Shu Uemura Shupette Drawing Pencil in Brown

If you have watched my videos long enough you will know that I love the Shu Uemura Drawing Pencil - particularly for my inner waterline as it is super black, very waterproof and stays put all day.
I was excited to see little cat paw prints on the packaging, making it extra special. As with the usual drawing pencils, this one is super pigmented and creamy. Not sure how much I'd wear brown, but it's a good shade to have if you're going for a natural look!

Have you picked up anything from the Shupette Collection? If so, which was your favorite? And if not, which one do you have your eyes on? Let me know in the comments!
