OCTOBER FAVORITES 2014

There is something about October - the gradual transition from Summer to Fall. The time to pull out sweaters and tights, and stuffing the now empty under-the-bed storage bags with summer tanks and bright tops. The new musky, fresh scent in the air and when orange leaves fall to make beautiful patterns on the ground. I loved my October, did you?

First thing that I have been loving (and completely used up) over the past month is the Soap & Glory Wash Your Hands Of It hand wash. Initially, I intended for it to be bathroom decor as Soap & Glory packaging has always had a spot in my heart. However, once I started using it, there was no turning back. I still cannot believe I used up an entire bottle of hand wash on my own within a month. It cleanses your hands without making it feel dry or smell of alcohol - instead it leaves a fruity fragrance that lingers and hands still feel normal if not nourished after use.

Moving on to a makeup brush I have only recently received in the post yet have fallen head over heels in love with it is the Zoeva Silk Finish brush. I love using this to blend in my foundation. Its soft bristles makes me feel relaxed when blending the product on my face - almost like giving myself a gentle face massage. It is easy to clean, and who can resist the beautiful rose gold design? I'm afraid to say this may replace my all-time favorite Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, just because the bristles are longer and I find that it takes less time to blend foundation seamlessly onto my face.

A lippie I have been wearing on many occasions the past month is the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in #5 Fuschia in Excess. It always sat in my lipstick drawer, lonely and screaming for attention yet for some reason I rarely find myself reaching for it. However i find it a perfect transitional color from Summer to Fall - as it has a nice glossiness to it. The shade is buildable from a sheer fuschia to a solid pop of color. Formula-wise, it does dry my lips after several hours, however the first few hours it produces a nice shine to my lips and I have been complimented on my lip color whenever I wore this.

You can see me wearing it in this video.

My holy grail contour product. I subconsciously reach for this although during the Summer months, I was more drawn to my new Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate. Now that we are approaching Fall, I prefer the Kevyn Aucoin as it is more subtle, yet low maintenance. It is not the most pigmented of contour products, however that may be the beauty of it. A couple of sweeps underneath the cheekbones and you have a naturally beautiful sculpted complexion.

I have featured this in a NARS post before, where I mentioned it was most likely to be 'the next Orgasm'. Indeed, I find myself reaching for it, especially for this transition period of seasons. It still carries on with shimmers of Summer and a slight hint of coral, yet muted in a way that complements Fall. This blush pairs very well with most makeup looks which may be the reason I have it left on my vanity table instead of hidden in the drawers that carries the rest of my makeup stash.

Last but not least is the eyeshadow palette I have been constantly wearing - the Makeup Revolution What You Waiting For palette. Let's forget about the price for a moment as I'm sure it does not require any reminding - but the variety shades and quality of the shadows just has me reaching for this daily. I can easily create a light pink eyeshadow look, or fall-inspired plum eyes - the combinations are endless. Creamy and pigmented (although slightly crumbly, I must say), the pinks, golds and purple tones of this eyeshadow palette just draws me in - even just to stare at.
