TOO FACED HAUL, SWATCHES & FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Although I don't own a variety of things from Too Faced (I've only have their eyeshadow palettes and their Shadow Insurance), I hopped on over to their site during their 20% off sale to get a hold of some new goodies because, let's face it - their packaging is incredibly tricky to resist.

The first thing I put in my Shopping Cart was he Natural Eyes palette, which I've wanted to get a hold on for a while but could never justify it. As you guys know, I am a huge eyeshadow palette junkie and it's one of my favorite things to collect (nail polish, blushes and lipsticks aside *ahem*). I do have the Natural Eye palette which is more of has cooler-toned shades, but this palette had all my favorite shades with pinky tones and warm-toned browns that are great for everyday wear. Plus, the packaging was just (oh-my-gerd) beautiful

The shades are totally up my street with a mixture of mattes and shimmers - all so pigmented and smooth that it glides on the eyelids and blends like a dream. My favorite shades have to be Silk Teddy, Push-Up and Honey Pot. In the evening I then tend to smoke it out with Chocolate Martini or Erotica. I will never be able to justify this purchase, but I'm so glad I did it - it is so pretty to look at plus very practical too!

I also love the new tin packaging, as opposed to the old cardboard packaging. The tin definitely makes it look and feel more luxurious.

I then stumbled across this palette which I was hesitant about but decided to add it to my cart anyway (you know what sales can do to you?). It is the 'The Secret to No Makeup Makeup' palette which is essentially a face palette and includes a Bronzing Veil, a cream blush, a powder blush, a concealer and an additional two highlighters. All the products are pretty much a cream formula apart from the Bronzing Veil and the powder blush.

Initially I didn't expect much from the Bronzing Veil. In the palette and when swatched it looked way too light to be a contour powder - which is something I use in my everyday routine instead of bronzer. But turns out when applied lightly on the skin it warms up the face like no other powder. It looks so natural and glowy, immediately adding a healthy glow to my face.
The cream blush has to be my favorite - it blends beautifully on the skin and the shade is a the perfect rosy pink. The powder blush is a bit too barbie-ish for my liking, but I'm glad there's an extra option in there. Would have liked it more if it were an orange-toned blush.
Although the concealer is a bit darker than my normal skin tone, it'll probably come in handy during the Summer time. Plus, it gives excellent natural coverage and the consistency is just irresistibly creamy. Wish I could use this other than the Summer though!
Last but not least there is a Luminizer and a Brightener - one is a bit more dewy and the other is a matte finish. Personally I love them both for different things and it depends on what look I'm going for. I love how versatile these two highlighters are - you can also use them as eyeshadow base or primer if you haven't got one handy on-the-go.

After browsing through the eyeshadow palettes section, I went on to add the Better Than Sex mascara to my cart because, really, who wouldn't buy this? After all the hype that's been revolving around it, I had high hopes for it and thankfully, it did not disappoint. Although I'm usually a fan of slimmer wands for my sparse lashes, I was surprised by how well this enhanced my lashes.

Before and after

It immediately lengthens like no other mascara, plus adds a bit of volume albeit slightly clumpy. I love how it gives me that dolly, wide-eyed look and instantly lifts my eyes. Another great thing about it is that it isn't a nightmare to remove which is something I greatly appreciate.

Last but not least I also picked up one of their lipsticks as I had never tried them previously. I got the La Crème Lipstick in Teddy Berry.

Initially expecting a berry color, I was pleasantly surprised that it turned out to be a sheerer formula, yet creamy and hydrating that it is smooth and easy to apply. I absolutely love the finish and the shade - instantly waking me up and giving me a 'My Lips But Better' color (overused, I know, but true). This is definitely a lipstick I will go back to for other shades as the formula is just on point!

So that's it for my haul and first impressions. What are your Too Faced favorites? Are there any of these that tickle your fancy?

CHARLOTTE TILBURY - MY COLLECTION & THOUGHTS

I believe I'm not the only one who got hooked on Charlotte Tilbury the minute I purchased my first Charlotte Tilbury product. Since owning The Dolce Vita palette, I found myself going back on a treasure hunt to see what other jewels I could find at the CT counter.

I first heard about The Dolce Vita palette from my friend Suzi who always created incredible and flawless makeup looks - she definitely gave me the push to purchase my first CT palette.
The combination of eyeshadow shades attracted me with a champagne base/highlighting shade, a reddish brown, a deeper woody brown and a glittery gold. The best part of the CT palettes are a) the packaging and b) the formula. These eyeshadow shades, when swatched, were like nothing I've ever tried before. They glide on smoothly to the eyelids and blends seamlessly with each other. Although pigmented when swatched with the warmth of the fingers, I feel that they don't appear as pigmented when used with eyeshadow brushes which can be a good thing, as it makes the color buildable instead of having heavy pigmented shadow on your eyelids, resulting in a "I don't know what to do with this" moment.

A look created with the Charlotte Tilbury The Dolce Vita eyeshadow palette

I loved the palette so much that it brought me to my second CT palette - The Vintage Vamp.

I cannot say for every Asian girl that this is the best palette for pale skin tones nor Asian eyes, as the shades have the tendency to make eyes appear more swollen. However, I personally am a huge fan of purple-red/burgundy tones - particularly for Fall. After some mental calculations, I believe I have been using The Vintage Vamp more than the Dolce Vita, since the eyeshadow shares are just a bit different. I also personally prefer the PRIME shadow (the pinkish champagne shade) a bit better than the one in The Dolce Vita palette. The POP color (gold glitter) is more subtle and foil-y as well which suits my tastes.

Here is a video where I created a look revolving around The Vintage Vamp palette.

I then spotted the Colour Chameleon eyeshadow sticks, which caught my eye as I was travelling then, it was something that deemed useful and convenient as I wouldn't require having my makeup brushes with me. I first purchased Bronze Garnet - again, showing my fetish for warm, reddish tones. I swatched it without purchasing it, and I was greatly surprised by how long it lasted on my hand. After 3 days it was still solid and budge-proof on my hands (and yes, I did shower, wash my hands, la-di-da). On the third day, I immediately went back to purchase it. After a short vacation, I decided that the Colour Chameleons were the bomb. They lasted well, were easy to apply and just speeded up my makeup process. I went back for Amber Haze, a warm bronze tone which I thought was very wearable and I could predict myself using it a lot. I also picked up Champagne Diamonds which is a gorgeous glittery champagne - I honestly couldn't resist.
These have amazing long-lasting powder, but I will tell you now - after applying it, blend ASAP! Otherwise they will not budge.

The Iconic Liquid Eye pencil was probably the second thing I picked up from Charlotte Tilbury, but truth be told, I'm not a huge fan. Although it claims to stay on for 10-14 hours, this melts onto my under eyes by the end of the day. Although, I must admit, it is extremely smooth and velvety, making it a dream to apply on the inner lashline. Barbarella Brown is also a beautiful shade that enhances the eyes without being too dramatic or 'harsh' (unlike black).

I purchased this as a friend asked me to help her buy one from the UK and told me it was to be her second one. A little doubtful (as I rarely use lip pencils) but a little curious at the same time, I ended up purchasing 2 - one for myself to see what the hype was about.

I loved this during the Summer time. It is a natural nude lip pencil that does an amazing job at priming the lips for any lip color that is to be applied on top. However, as this review was written and photographed on a dry, cold day in January, I noticed the difference there and then. It enhanced my lip lines and made my lips look heavily flaky. Although I must say, that with this underneath, any lip color applied on top looks more bold and enhanced - however for those with dry lips, don't be surprised that everything else (including lip lines) will also be enhanced!

Sorry for the lengthy post guys, but I hope this helped you out in picking out Charlotte Tilbury products! I do some are a hit and miss, however it doesn't stop me from wanting to grow my collection! There are many more things I'd like to try from her line - if you have any recommendations please do let me know!

WINTER WARDROBE STAPLE: THE TRENCH

I'm going to be totally honest - I've never owned a proper trenchcoat, and never thought they would suit me. But I decided that this year was the year to try new styles and very rapidly, the trench has become one of my winter wardrobe staples. I opted for an oversized, camel-shade one so it is easy to style with just a striped turtle neck and plain skinny black jeans. Because it isn't bulky in terms of fabric, it is great for layering when the temperature drops, but because it is still oversized, the coat doesn't quite look right without some heels. Hence I added some height with my Jeffrey Campbell litas - the wooden heel resonates with the camel and I think this is a great casual, yet put-together outfit to keep me warm.

During our photoshoot, I styled Yuki with a pretty polka-dot harness with a bow - and it definitely got her the attention she wanted! This cute and quirky style adds that flirty flair whilst making her comfortable as it has rings on the back to attach her leash.
Many thanks to Pet-A-Pawter for gifting Yuki this cute girly outfit! Check out their website for unique, stylish and high quality apparel for your beloved pooch!
