SPRING FOUNDATION ROUTINE 2013

Hi guys! I just uploaded a video on my Spring Foundation Routine as you can see above, but I also wanted to talk about the products in detail in this blog post so I can explain why I used them and what I love about them! So here goes!

Lancome Le Base Pro

I have been using this product for YEARS and this is just one of my holy grail Spring/Summer primers as it mattifies the skin really well, absorbs any excess oil and makes my foundation stay on longer. Can't get any better than that I'd say! The only thing I found with this primer is that if used with certain foundations, it can make my skin flaky. But recently the combination of this primer and the foundations I've been using I have not had this problem at all.

The consistency is super light so it is perfect for the humid Summer we have in Hong Kong.

I honestly don't know if taking photos of the product blended in helps, but I thought I'd share it anyway. I just love how the Le Base Pro blends into my skin and leaves that silky finish, ready for foundation.

YSL Touche Éclat Foundation

I have been on the hunt for a new foundation as some of you may know, my skin has practically gone half a shade to a shade lighter (I believe it was due to the DiorSnow products mentioned here in my skincare routine). So after recommendation by my sister and a few other people, I decided to try this one out.

The packaging is extremely luxurious with the gold cap and a very minimalistic design.

The consistency again is very light which is why I chose this to be my Spring/Summer foundation. It is comparable to the Diorskin Nude foundation which I also liked (but was a shade too dark for me). I love how this blends into my skin - none of that cakey, heavy feeling and just glides onto the skin really well.

You can probably see that it just blends perfectly (even though I didn't even try hard to blend it as I wanted it to be visible), but it really gives this amazingly natural finish - nothing to fake or plastic. I would say it leans towards low coverage, but it's buildable with a stippling brush and a couple more layers. Since this is a Spring foundation routine, I skipped building up the coverage as during this time of the year I prefer to let my skin breathe, especially as the humidity can easily clog my pores.

Diorskin Nude Concealer

What I love abuot this concealer is the hydrating effect it has on my undereyes. As I suffer from dry skin, my undereyes really prove it when it gets flaky and creased. With skincare benefits, the concealer not only covers imperfections but also hydrates and boosts elasticity for the skin.

The concealer is slightly too pricey for my liking and as always you never really know if all that skin-perfecting stuff works. I just found it a really lightweight concealer for the Spring/Summer time but it is not a must-have beauty product IMO. It's not as portable as some other concealers may be, and it is easily comparable with the drugstore Maybelline Dream Lumi-Touch Highlighting Concealer.

As you can see it provides, to a certain extent, some coverage but it is not a magic wand. I prefer to pat this concealer on my undereyes and blemishes as it gives the best coverage but if you are looking for something with high coverage, this may not be the product for you.

Diorskin Nude Rose Powder

Once again the packaging just screams 'luxury', but I was taken aback by how well the product works. It is no surprise to me that this is one of their best selling products. Not only does the 'Rose' factor pull me in like a magnet, but the finishing of this product is unbelievable. It leaves the silkiest finish and I particularly love this for Spring time as it adds a warm tone to the skin so that it looks healthy and glowing.

If you look closely you can probably see the pink tone that it leaves behind, but not pink enough to make your face look like it's been covered in blush. It just adds that extra radiance to the face that makes you look awake.

I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post and that it was helpful! Thank you for reading as always :)

  1. You makes me want to purchase all the products! I wonder where you purchased Diorskin Nude Rose Powder? Is this product only sold in HK? I did not find it in the US.
